Start pruning, planting and perfecting your gardens for the 2023 DJ Stringer Garden Competition!
It’s time to show off your gardening skills, whether you have a small space garden on your balcony or a large acreage garden, we have awards to be allocated for 12 categories.
Enter up to three categories for the chance to win a trip for 2 people to the 2024 Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show!

Categories for the 2023 Garden show include:
- SMALL SPACE GARDEN – BALCONY/COURTYARD/PATIO
- For gardens with balconies, courtyards or patios.
- GENERAL SIZED GARDEN
- All general gardens up to 1000 m2 of land space
- LARGE GARDENS & ACREAGE
- Gardens larger than 1000 m2 of land space.
- EDIBLE GARDEN & VEGGIE PATCH
- Edible gardens includes flowers, herbs, seeds, berries and plants that you can eat.
- SUSTAINABLE GARDEN
- Sustainable Gardens/Eco friendly and the use of natural/organic products – no size limit.
- PRETTY GARDEN
- We’re looking for pretty flowering gardens in this category big or small.
- COMICAL OR QUIRKY GARDEN
- For that garden that oozes personality & or charm in any shape or form, big or small.
- SCHOOL GARDEN
- Edible, sustainable, flowering, student gardens & or just beautifully maintained grounds.
- BEST WATER FEATURE
- Special fishpond & or general water feature of any size.
- BEST MAN CAVE
- Can be attached or unattached to home, sports bar area / billiard room or workshop but it must represent its owners personality.
- BEST TENANTS GARDEN
- Tenants must have been renting the home & maintained all gardens for in excess of 12 months.
- BEST COMMUNITY GARDEN
- Community garden with various participant gardeners.

Terms & Conditions:
Eligibility: The Garden Competition is open to all residents in the Gold Coast from Palm Beach to Coolangatta, Northern NSW from Tweed Heads to Kingscliff (and inland to Terranora & Murwillumbah), except employees and immediate family members of the organiser and their affiliates.
Entry requirements: To enter the Garden Competition, participants must register their garden along with their selected garden category. All gardens that are registered will be judged personally by a DJ Stringer representative after the competition registration close date of 29th September 2023.
Submission deadline: All entries for registration must be received by DJ Stringer no later than 5:00pm (EST) on Friday 29th September 2023.
Intellectual property rights: Participants must ensure that their registrations do not infringe upon the intellectual property rights of any third party
Judging for individual categories: The entries will be judged based on the creativity, originality, and overall appeal of the garden. The decision of the judges will be final and binding.
Prize Winner: The first prize is open to all participants of the Garden Competition. All entrants who attend DJ Stringer on the prize night, which is scheduled for Thursday, October 19th, will be entered into a random drawing. A single winner will be selected through this drawing. The winner will then be publicly announced, and the first prize, consisting of two flight tickets, accommodations for two individuals, and two tickets to the Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show, will be presented to the selected winner. Please note that hard tickets and accommodation and flight confirmations will be awarded at a later date after confirmations with ticket winners.
Prize: One lucky garden will receive two flights, accommodation for two, and two tickets to the Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show. The prize is non-transferable and cannot be exchanged for cash.
Notification: The winner will be notified by phone or email on Thursday 19th October.
Publicity: By entering the Garden Competition, participants agree to the use of their name and entry submission for publicity purposes and marketing materials.
Liability: The organizer will not be responsible for any loss, damage, or injury resulting from participation in the Garden Competition or acceptance and use of the prize.
Disqualification: The organizer reserves the right to disqualify any entry that does not comply with these terms and conditions or is deemed inappropriate or offensive.
Modification or termination: The organizer reserves the right to modify or terminate the Garden Competition at any time without prior notice.
Governing law: The Garden Competition and these terms and conditions will be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the country.
