Last week we hosted the DJ Stringer Garden competition for 2023. Held in our Coolangatta to present the winners who entered the 11 categories of gardens. In addition we drew the major prize winner which included two tickets to the Melbourne International Flower and garden Show for 2024 with flights and accommodation.
It was such a close competition but below are the very deserving award winners of our 11 garden categories. These winners were decided upon by Leisa and David for their creativity, originality, and their alignment with the respective categories:
- Small Space Garden – Neil Bartels
- General Garden Space – Steve & Lynne Armes
- Large Gardens/Acreage – Greg Kinkade
- Edible Garden/Veggies Jackie & Michael Balk
- Sustainable Garden – Anna & Michael Eglitzky
- Pretty Garden – Maxwell Reiter
- Comical/Quirky Garden – Dorothy Elliott
- Best Water Feature – Anna & Michael Eglitzky
- Best Man Cave – Paddy Brady
- Best Tenant Garden – Pamela & Alan Stewart.
- Best Community Garden – Southern Beaches Community Garden
Congratulations to Mary Woods of Kingscliff who won the major prize draw, winning tickets to the Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show in 2024 with flights and accommodation. As mentioned in the article, Mary lost her garden to floods recently so has had many hours rebuilding her garden back up. Congratulations Mary!
The garden competition will be open again in February 2024 so it’s a fantastic time to start planting and pruning to enter for next year. Stay tuned to our social channels and the Tweed Valley Weekly for more updates….
